JAPANESE SIX-PANEL SCREEN WITH AUTUMN FLOWERS

Description
Six-panel Japanese folding screen (one of a pair) depicting several autumn flowers and a red fence along a stream. A multicolored set of flowering plants is portrayed, including different varieties of chrysanthemums (kiku), flowering clovers and some specimens of Lespedeza (hagi). As if to describe the progressive thinning of the flora as winter approaches, the composition is less dense on the left side, where an isolated group of clovers, bluebells (kikyo) and miscanthus (susuki) appears.
